I once witnessed the slaughter of a pig. The animal's moans were full of horror, while the butcher appeared emotionless, and the diners laughed. This left me with a painful awareness of apathy. This painting is a reversal of that memory.

The queen wished for her corpse to be adorned with jewels, while her knight wished to be interred in full armour to guard her eternally. A thousand years later, flowers bloom only on the knight's side, while the beauty of the queen is nowhere to be found.
